What Still Burns

In an Appalachian coal town gripped by rolling blackouts, ordinary teen Abner tries to reignite a spark with childhood friend Sunstep, the poor girl who finally feels seen.

Abner and Sunstep were once inseparable. But when popularity found Tamsin "Sunstep" Crowder, she took it and abandoned Abner in the dark. Now seniors, Abner still finds himself pulled toward the girl who's never stopped wandering through his memories.

Sunstep never figured out how to make things right, and the reason she left hides beneath feelings she's too afraid to name. While Abner, still bitter and aching, must decide if reaching for her is worth reliving what it felt like to be tossed aside.

In a town where nothing changes and is forever stuck in the past, maybe they can reconcile if they're brave enough to try.
